2. Show Mines Terra Mystica
& Terra Montana

Hidden in the heart of the mountain, Bad Bleiberg is home to two remarkable attractions – the show mines Terra Mystica and Terra Montana. For more than 700 years, lead and zinc ore were extracted here. The tour begins authentically with a 68-metre miners’ slide before visitors explore the two mines on foot, at a constant temperature of 8 °C.

The experience is enriched by multimedia shows, original working machinery and 14 information stations illustrating the miners’ work underground. Finally, the mine railway takes visitors towards the shaft elevator and back to the surface.

Animal companions make every walk something special. They calm us, bring us into the moment and never fail to make us smile. The eight alpacas of the Sitter family in Hüttendorf have truly earned the title of “companions,” as visitors can set out on a guided hike alongside one of these gentle animals. Advance registration is required.

A visit to the farm shop is also worthwhile — where you can take home a small souvenir, from pure alpaca wool and fine textiles to handcrafted soaps. Those seeking an alternative to the classic sights of Bad Bleiberg will find quiet joy here.
