The story of Bad Bleiberg is deeply rooted in mining. For centuries, lead and zinc were extracted from the mountain until 1993. In 2018, the Humanomed Group acquired the historic Bleibergerhof, perched at 960 metres in the high valley of Bad Bleiberg. What once was a traditional hotel began to evolve into a sanctuary for health and regeneration.
Since its reopening as BLEIB BERG, the house has been redefined – without the Hof and without the Blei, but with a new name, a new spirit, and new possibilities for you.

Located near the tri-border region of Austria, Italy, and Slovenia, BLEIB BERG F.X. Mayr Retreat combines medical expertise with the healing power of nature. Its defining elements: a place of strength, pure thermal water, and the unique microclimate of the healing climate tunnel ‘Friedrich’.
These natural treasures form the foundation of the modern BLEIB BERG concept – where regeneration and science meet. In addition to a wide range of classical and complementary medical treatments, guests experience the benefits of the healing climate tunnel ‘Friedrich’, the soothing thermal pools indoors and outdoors, and the untouched nature of the high valley.

A Glimpse Into the Past:
From Bleibergerhof to BLEIB BERG
The roots of today’s BLEIB BERG F.X. Mayr Retreat reach deep into the hotel history of Bad Bleiberg. The journey from a family-run inn to a renowned health resort is marked by many milestones.
- The Bleibergerhof began as a family business and remained in the hands of the Süssenbacher family for decades. With its award-winning restaurant, it became one of the leading establishments in the region.
- In 2006, the family handed the hotel over to entrepreneur Thomas Schartel.
- Two years later, in 2008, the Falkensteiner Group took over the property.
- In 2015, hotelier Bernd Hinteregger, head of the HB1 Hotel Group, continued its operations.
- In 2018, the Bleibergerhof was acquired by the Humanomed Group, which also took ownership of the healing climate tunnel ‘Friedrich’. The hotel was then run as a wellness and preventive health resort under the “Active Health Prevention” concept.
- In 2022, following significant investment, the Bleibergerhof was transformed into BLEIB BERG Health Retreat.
- By 2023, its focus shifted fully toward Modern Mayr Medicine – marking the beginning of BLEIB BERG F.X. Mayr Retreat.
