F.X. Mayr Diet in Four Stages

Depending on your body’s needs, the F.X. Mayr diet at our hotel is divided into four stages. The intensity of your fasting experience is determined during the initial diagnosis with your attending physician. This ensures that every guest — here at one of Austria’s most renowned F.X. Mayr hotels — finds their ideal nutritional stage.

According to your individual needs, your fasting journey is supported by chew trainers, homemade spelt or buckwheat flatbreads, as well as potatoes and vegetable chips. These are complemented by broths, high-quality linseed oil, spreads, sheep’s or goat’s yoghurt, herbal teas and selected supplements based on the teachings of Franz Xaver Mayr or Erich Rauch.

Epsom salt or magnesium citrate

If you wish to experience a private F.X. Mayr cure at our hotel in Carinthia, two essential companions are Epsom salt and our BLEIB BERG magnesium citrate.

Immediately before morning exercise, please take your Epsom salt or BLEIB BERG magnesium citrate. Dissolve one level teaspoon of Epsom salt and one teaspoon of alkaline powder in a glass of warm water. It is best to prepare the mixture the evening before by letting it sit in a little water overnight.

Unless otherwise prescribed by your physician, please refrain from drinking anything for 10 minutes before and 30 minutes after intake. You may take only a small sip of water to rinse your mouth.

You will be provided with an alkaline powder supplement, which helps balance your body’s acid–base levels, delivered directly to your room. Unless otherwise prescribed by your physician, please take one teaspoon of alkaline powder dissolved in 0.2 litres of water twice a day between meals.

Morning exercise

Exercise is the perfect complement to the Mayr diet at the hotel. Our morning exercise programme “Morning Awakening” can be found on the weekly schedule. The current timetable is displayed near reception. Please register in advance.

If you prefer not to take part in the guided morning session, we recommend doing about 5 to 10 minutes of light movement on your own after taking the Epsom salt. Please do not lie down afterwards.

Energy and Stillness

Find your balance. We recommend a harmonious blend of movement, reflection and rest. It is important to consciously create moments that belong entirely to you.

In the midst of idyllic Austria, you can combine your F.X. Mayr therapy with peaceful walks, quiet moments with a good book in your room, or restorative time in our cosy wellness area. Reward yourself with time that is truly your own.

Hydration

Please avoid drinking 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after meals. Try to maintain the amount of liquid recommended by your physician throughout the day.

A selection of SonnenMoor herbal teas is available in the Tea Lobby on the ground floor and in the Tea Lounge in the therapy area on the lower level of our F.X. Mayr health hotel.
Between 10:00 and 12:00, you may also enjoy a nourishing vegetable broth — this soup counts towards your recommended daily fluid intake.

Liver Detox Wrap

A soothing ritual during your F.X. Mayr cure in Carinthia, Austria, is the liver detox wrap. It is applied independently in your room – ideally before lunch and in the evening, in a calm and relaxed setting.

Place the prepared hay pillow over the abdominal area covering the intestines and liver, then place the heat carrier on top. Wrap yourself warmly and allow around 30 minutes of rest.

The gentle warmth stimulates blood circulation in the digestive tract and supports the liver’s detoxification process – a valuable addition to your cure that relaxes both body and mind.

The Art of Chewing

An essential part of intestinal cleansing is mindful chewing during meals. Eat slowly and consciously, chewing each bite about 30 to 40 times — until you notice a slightly sweet taste developing in your mouth.

Only then, depending on your individual prescription, take a spoonful of broth, tea, yoghurt or porridge. In this way, you learn to thoroughly break down your food in the mouth and to recognise your body’s natural feeling of fullness at the right time.

How to Prepare for the F.X. Mayr Therapy

Pre-Cure - gentle Preparation at Home

To ensure the best possible results from your stay at BLEIB BERG, we recommend beginning gentle preparation for your Cure at home, in your familiar environment. This pre-cure phase helps your body adjust and can minimise potential detox reactions during your stay.

Equally important is mental and emotional preparation. Making a conscious decision to reduce and slow down supports your body’s natural adaptation and helps you respond more harmoniously to the reactions that may arise during your cure.

About one week before your arrival, we recommend:

  • Eat slowly, chew thoroughly, and respect your body’s natural rhythm.
  • In the evening, choose light meals (food combining) or try to skip dinner.
  • Drink plenty of still water and herbal tea between meals.
  • If possible, take one teaspoon of alkaline powder dissolved in a glass of water in the morning and/or evening on an empty stomach.

Avoid or reduce during the week before your stay:

  • Alcohol, black tea, coffee, and industrially produced drinks
  • Foods high in refined sugar
  • Raw vegetables after 2:00 p.m.
  • Fatty or heavy meals, fried foods, and dishes you personally find difficult to digest

What Is the Mild Clearing Diet?

Those who follow the Mild Clearing Diet according to Erich Rauch and Peter Mayr at BLEIB BERG eat according to Stages 3.3. to 4. Alkaline and gentle on the digestive system, this form of nutrition resembles a “normal” daily diet, yet avoids raw foods such as uncooked vegetables, salads, and fruit.

Breakfast offers a selection of homemade sweet and savoury spreads, yoghurt, porridge, cheese and ham, and freshly baked bread.
At lunchtime, guests enjoy a light alkaline soup with a chewing bread, followed by a well-balanced main course – either vegetarian or with fish or meat – and a small dessert.
The early dinner begins with a small starter, continues with an alkaline soup, and concludes with a vegetarian main course.
